I have started processing my trip, here are....

.....some from the second day. (the one that almost ended the trip before it really started)

This is Reed Lake (a salt marsh) in Saskatchewan. It was very much dried out, only a narrow strip of water left and it was very shallow. The marsh is summer home to many thousands of various shore birds, they looked a little cramped in the little water that was left.

The water being so far out it was impossible to get any bird shots. the following images are all with the K10D and Bigma.

This is a crop of the previous one

This grassland is absolutely teaming with insects, here are a couple:

Nice shots Heinrich, especially the grasshopper. It's a real shame how dry the sloughs are this year, we need lots of snow this winter to save them.
Thank you Scott and yes a whole lot of snow and some heavy rains would do wonders there.

Take care,

Good series Heinrich - really like the first one and, such an isolated area. The grasshopper and Silos are good as well. Looking forward to more as you headed east.
Hi Dave and thank you. Reed Lake is not really that isolated, it's right besides the Trans Canada Highway about 60 km east of Swift Current.

Take care,

Nice shots. I agree about the grasshopper.
Looks like some great country side for some panos.

Good work Heinrich! I especially like #2. The straight lines really draw my attention to the entire frame, including the soft rolling hills and tree in the background. Hard to take my eyes off of it!

Beautiful grasshopper shots. I really like the second landscape shot too. The mown texture of the fields in the background are a nice contrast to the straight lines in the water.
Thank you for looking and commenting, it really is appreciated.
