Oh My Gosh!! What a superb capture. This must be a carrier based aircraft given the tail hook section. Beautifully done with such vivid colors against a blue sky. Awesome work.

Many thanks, Tony, These aircraft fly in and out of our local airport daily along with USAF T-6 Texan IIs and USAF T-1A Jayhawks! The T-45C is a Navy and Marines intermediate and advanced jet trainer and is also used for carrier qualification of new pilots, thus the tail hook. Thanks for the visit, My Friend!!

Actually quite a few aircraft have arrestor hooks fitted for emergency use even when they don't operate off carriers. One example was the F111, and an F111 in Queensland used the hook to catch a wire across an airbase runway to make an emergency belly-landing. All the Australian F18 aircraft have arrestor hooks as far as I know (for the same reason) and I don't think they have ever operated off a carrier. Australia hasn't had fixed wing aircraft operating off carriers for decades.

Great shot, Larry! It looks like the US version of the Hawk trainer. We've used the Hawk in Australia as a jet trainer for pilots transitioning to the F18.
