This is a great shot. I may have cropped out the bottom to get rid of the weeds in the front. Very nice work. JIMBO

this is a nice shot, Susan, why are you surprised? I like the colors, and
the scene make me wish I had a canoe to explore it.

It does seem a little dark on my monitor, but I wasn't there. If it were my
shot I would probably bring the lightest tones (what look to be birch tree
branches) up closer to white with levels or curves. Or if you shot in RAW
maybe going up 1/2 or 1 stop exposure. Or if you like it the way it is,
leave it alone.

It is a beautiful shot, congrats. I'd be tempted to bump up the colours a bit and adjust the light curves for more contrast, but it really isn't necessary. It's very nice as it is.

if you bumped up the contrast in curves (highlights side) , there'd be no need for more saturation. Like Scott said though, it's quite nice as is.

Thanks Tim. I took 2 shots of this scene. The other is 1/2 stop lighter but this one looked better on my monitor. I am saving both until I can get them printed as a test to see if my monitor is off a bit. I suspect it is. I really must learn to trust the histogram more.

Thanks to all for the kind comments.

That's a lovely scene Susan, good composition. I do think it deserves some PP and sharpening to boost those colours though.

Here's something I noticed as I was scrolling down the screen. If you crop from the top down to the top of the 'naked' tree just right of centre, the shot gets a much more prominent focal point with natural lines that draw you into the shot. Have a look, see what you think.

Gary, I swear one of these days I'm going to have a shot that you think doesn't need a crop. You do have a good eye though and are usually right so I thank you for the suggestion and will try it.

Mmm...dreamy...nicely done. One can always boost the colours, but speaking from my point of view, sometimes a scene is just misty, hazy or muted and should stay the way it is. Those colours look spot on to me. You will have to decide.

Thanks JMR, that is kind of how I felt. The colors are pretty true to life so I really hate to mess with them. I've been trying to get it right in camera to limit PP time.
