I have the luggage allowance when I've travelled premium economy or business, but can't justify the weight for the likelihood of use. If I ever do a trip specifically for wildlife photograph, I'll certainly try to figure out a way of taking it.

True, especially because the eggs of the host birds would have been destroyed by the Cuckoo. It seems to be an effective method however - there's quite a lot of Cuckoo species. I heard Fan-tailed Cuckoos calling near where I took this photo.
