Much is said about the work ethic of bees but this one has sat in one place for hours . Could be ill or injured but I am merely an opportunistic camera horse , clueless .

Excellent detail in here! Honeybees do take breaks throughout the day too.

We have fewer bees this year and it was definitely alive because it flew away in a half hour or so . Thanks for commenting .

Could be as simple as the "Sat Nav" batteries failed...

Battery failure is possible but I didn't check to see if the rosebush open for business sign was out .

The number of bees is rapidly decreasing for several years now. Caused by the use of chemicals to protect crops.
At first Monsanto and now German based Bayer are the companies that produce these chemicals.
Politicians have been listening too long at lobbyists from these companies to prevent an end to the use of these chemicals.

A few years ago , I talked to a bee keeper as his crew was placing a number of box hives in a pasture . He was bitter about local growers who used insecticides indiscriminately , and he vowed to not pollinate such areas because of bee losses . Thanks Fluegel .

No thanks at all.
Bees are very useful insects. They do not only produce honey, they also pollinate plants and flowers.
That is one of their most important tasks in nature.
