Lens: Pentax HD DA 55-300mm f/4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE Lens Camera: Pentax KP Photo Location: Nathan Rd Wetlands QLD ISO: 4000 Shutter Speed: 1/640s Aperture: F9
Posted By: K2 to K50, 06-30-2020, 08:38 PM

This cheeky fellow started off some 4-6 metres away from me, and gradually worked his way to within 1-11/2 metres of me, looking me right in the eye!! I had to zoom the 55-300mm PLM back out to 170mm to fit him into the shot!!
Very overcast day, shooting hand-held, hence the weird shutter/ISO settings (am finding the need for higher and higher shutter speeds when doing hand-held shots with the 55-300mm PLM, even with shake reduction on).

Nice shot. They are cheeky little birds, as you say. Nice to have around even though they can drive others away.

Thanks PJ1 - yes, I have heard of them rousing eggs out of other birds' nests!

No - they are apparently not even spread across all of Australia - just all down the East Coast and Tasmania, from what I have read.
