Coin Collectors
Posted By: daacon, 11-03-2008, 04:46 PM

In recent years Vegas has discovered the Penny Slots - ingenious. Now people feel great about playing with Pennies. Next time you see a Penny Slot check out the maximum bet (which you usually have to play to get the big pay outs). They range from play 20 lines and bet 10 credits per line - to Play 45 lines bet 10 per line .... you do the math ....pennies indeed

Two thoughts come to mind; the place looks deserted and I am surprised they let you take pictures in a casino/slots building. My son used to work at the slots here and has witnessed more than a few people having their cameras confiscated for taking pictures.
Obviously different laws there.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Jeff - The emptiness does have to do with the time of day (it was relatively early morning) but even so also a sign of the times. In Vegas once I was asked to put my video camera down , never my camera. I guess there are so many tourists. Now in Canada, Edmonton - you are correct they will not even let me bring my camera in the casino at all (and I have tried).

Ha Ha Thanks Jimbo - yes I agree although my wife would beg to differ and she has good luck with them so who am I to argue ? (But I agree whole heartily - of all the games in Vegas slots hasve some of the worst odds of winning).

Yep although people do win - it's all a matter of timing. I am waiting for when the implement Slots in the washrooms and start accepting debit and credit cards I am sure the casino's push for the later but the gaming commision likley shuts them down. I find more females play slots and more guys play the tables - there are of course exceptions , but for the most part that holds true. Something about those blinking lights.

Interesting post. I was expecting photos of guys with magnifying glasses looking at old silver dollars and dubloons!

Wow, Dave.

Not sure how you can get away taking cameras and snapping away in front of pokie machines. The colour and feel are definitely refreshing

I remember back in England, pretty much every girlfriend I had, if we played on the machine in the pub, she would always press whichever button was flashing instead of looking at the whole.

Thanks Jeff - coin collectors is a blast from the past. Very few machines accept or give out coins these days - a few in the older casiono's and downtown maybe - all paper tickets for output and of course they will all accept any denomination of a US Bill.

Thanks James - I tried to be a little discrete - I was not bothered at all , but most of my inside casino pics where in the morning less busy.

Haha Yeah blinking lights , I get a kick out of without exception (at least the ones I noticed) no matter what you bet $0.01 ,$0.25, $0.50,$0.90 the Max Bet button was always placed next to the spin button and was flashing

In the "old" Vegas, they let me take a picture of my wife in front of a slot machine, but told me I'd end up in the dessert if I tried to take any other pictures...

Thanks Tom - yeah here in Canada I get harrased all the time and some casino's outright refuse me to even bring the camera in. The last couple of years in Vegas I have got no hassel - may be more blind luck than anything - I'll take it !

We have been to Las Vegas twice, once to go to the Grand Canyon and once as a stopover for Bryce and Zion. We didn't gamble once. I think that makes us weird not to mention a casinos nightmare.

Very interesting photos. Have never seen a casino before. Looks like a giant arcade.
