Ash Throated Fly Catcher
Lens: HD DA55-300mm f4.5-6.3 PLM Camera: K-3II Photo Location: Roseville, CA ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: 1/1500s Aperture: F9

This is a bird that I have not often seen in my area, so I was excited to get a photo of it. They are only found in California in the summer, migrating to Mexico in winter.

A very nice capture, Todd. Very appealing image.


Interesting head shape, and tiny hook to the beak, which is unusual, I think, for what looks like a relatively small bird?

Thank you K2 to K50! That is an interesting tiny hook to its beak. I would say it measures around 8" from beak to end of tail feathers.

Someplace in my older files are a few photos of an ash throated flycatcher taken in harsh late morning light but this image of yours is beautiful .
