Duck headshot First evening trying out this lens
Lens: Tamron Adaptall 2 300mm f5.6 Camera: K10D Photo Location: Dean Park Kilmarnock ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/125s Aperture: F8

I manage to pick up a Tamron 300mm f5.6 54B version of this lens on Ebay, but due to an incorrect description they also sent the CP-300 version as well which was a bonus. Optics on both clear though I had to dig out a couple of Adaptall 2 mounts which fortunately I had from my 35mm days. Turned out to be a bargain at £14 for both lenses which considering their image quality is an absolute steal. Light was starting to fade so I had to open the aperture to f8 for this shot. I'm planning on going back soon for some early morning shots. Let me know what you think of the shot. I'm waiting on a 1.7x auto teleconverter which should arrive tomorrow. Has anyone tried using this with any of the Adaptall 2 lenses? I'd also like to know the differences between the different versions of Adaptall 2 mounts as well and which one would work best when I upgrade to a K1-II or the new APS-C in a few months time. I need to stop buying new lenses though, so I may have to ban myself from eBay for a few months and keep saving.

If you are looking to use the SMC 1.7x AF converter AF WONT the combined lens aperture is too slow.

Also note that the KA adaptor does not have the contacts for F5.6

Thank's for letting me know Lowell. I've got plenty of other old lenses so I'll experiment once I get the SMC 1.7 AF converter to see which work best.

When I bought the converter new in 1991, I wanted to use it with my PZ1 and Vivitar Series 1 70-210/3.5. The product publication stated max F2.8. At that time Pentax Canada had an office within 3 miles of my house, and they let me try one. I tested on F3.5. No issue, tested on my 100/4 macro worked fine, tried it on my 400/5.6. Could not focus lock.

Even with my K5 it canít focus on my Tamron 200/500/5.6. Not much has changed in AF and minimum aperture requirements between the PZ1 and K5, it seems.
