of Hummingbird acrobatics. I know I have been posting a lot of hummingbird shots, but with the 55-300 PLM it is hard to pass them up.

Thanks Mike! I took this through a window which allowed me the closest distance to the bird. On hot days the hummingbirds use my fountain to cool off and take baths, and when they come, they fly around, land and/or hover for 20-30 seconds at a time. My settings were AFS, the AF 9 point select for the focus area, and continuous shooting mode. Once in the focus area, I was able to get a burst of 4-5 shots with the bird in decent focus.

Excellent! Big thanks nice and crisp!

Hang up and DRIVE!

I don't know how it is I have only just come across this shot now - it is a stunner of a BIF shot. I don't think I have so far shot anything at such a high shutter speed - it has certainly done the trick of freezing the main body of the hummer, and come close to freezing the wing movement: which is really something for a humming bird!! A true delight to view this pic.

Thanks so much for the great comment K2 to K50! I am really blessed to have them hanging around my yard giving me many opportunities to photograph them. And now that I have the 55-300 PLM, it has really started paying off.

Great shot! Perfect timing. I love it when hummingbirds spread the tail feathers.
