Ospreys?
Posted By: Maynerd, 11-05-2008, 11:39 AM

I took these on a trip out to the Canadian Rockies in late July. I think they are Ospreys, but I'm not a birder, so if anyone knows, kindly post below. They had built a huge nest at an intersection of girders on top of a bridge.

Camera: K10D
Lens: Tammy 28-300
PP: Levels, Curves and USM (shot handheld, so some have more than others)

Beautiful shots, ospreys are great birds to watch soaring over lakes hunting.

Great shot. I also was taken by #2! I think you have a parent and two juveniles. Chicks have blood red eyes that transition to yellow at adulthood.

#2 is my favorite as well. Could be my fav pic of the entire trip, actually. They weren't to happy about us walking under their nest, hence the expressions.

From now on I won't be able to look at that pic without thinking "DeNiro".

Thanks. Someone had mentioned that there was an "eagle's" nest on a bridge near to where we were camping, but we just happened to stumble upon it on our way to another location. It really wasn't hard to spot, the nest was probably 4 feet in diameter.
