Say 'Hello' to my little friend!
Posted By: J.Scott, 11-05-2008, 04:16 PM

Why say 'Hello' you may ask?

Well, this little offering was all taken with my cell phone camera.
The lens is minuscule; I am sure it is no more than a fancy digital pin-hole camera with an aperture of f64.
But I am continually amazed that it can take decent pic's in a pinch.

1) Taken through the windshield of a moving vehicle as we crossed the Mackinaw Bridge in Michigan. I like the perspective.

2)Taken inside the Palais des congrès de Montréal. The colour is a result of the many panes of brightly colored glass that cover the front of the building.

3) A reflective shot from inside the Palais des congrès de Montréal.

4)A shot of my wife and our niece watching TV. Nothing special, but I liked it.

5)Just some Northern Ontario bush. Work took me to the top of a hill so I snapped a pic.

6)Another niece being her grumpy self at a family wedding this past summer. Even the crystal seemed to shine in this pic.

7) Nothing more than a lamp shade. Usually seen adorning my head at the end of the party.

You have some very nice images.

The firshot has an interesting pattern.

The colours are great with no 2 and 3.

The lamp shot is very spot on with the colour and clairty.

So, you'll be selling all your Pentax gear in the marketplace then?

Well your just proving the point that it's the photographer that takes the picture. You did great with those. Were you talking to someone as well by any chance?

No, I'll be keeping my (D)SLR gear for a while yet; no fire sales!
Thanks for the kind words.

Not sure what you mean by this question;

Thanks. It's just a Motorola K'Razr phone. They call it a 2 mega pixel camera but by any measurement it sure is tiny.

I think Gary meant talking to someone 'on the phone' at the same time

Ah - I get it now! Using the phone as a communication device and not just a cheap substitute for a 'real' camera; novel idea!

Actually, I was at a convention at the Palais des congrès de Montréal last week. I stepped out of the main convention hall to take a phone call on my cell and as I was standing there gabbing I noticed the groovy colours all around me. Oh yeah - I had to take a few pictures right then. The results of that brief moment of inspiration are shots #2 and #3.

They are pretty good shots to be sure. I'm impressed with the bridge shot considering a windshield as well.

These cameras are Ok in a pinch. Plus if you want a soft diffusion effect, just put a thumb print on the lens, nice and soft.

Thanks Peter.

Now when I get that 'soft diffusion effect' I can tell people I meant to do it and I wasn't just too inattentive to clean the lens! Smudges are my friend!

Sort of like this shot of my nieces daughter.

Cell phone or no, I really like shot no.2. Fine colors and great composition. Looks suspiciously like art, ha, ha!
