The weird and the wonderful
Posted By: Heinrich Lohmann, 08-28-2020, 10:07 AM

This is a tiny critter, about 5 mm in total length.

This one is even smaller but I could not identify either one.

Unidentified tiny hover fly

Another terrific series of insect macros! I love the two hoverfly images. The details are outstanding.

Wow! Mind-blowing! Such perfect clarity in all these shots. And taken from such useful angles for viewing.

For Mr. Lohmann how do you get such clear pictures? I keep coming back to look at them, they are truly beautiful. I'm a rookie with DSLR (old film guy Spotmatic) and have been having an absolute ball with my K5. Hope someday to get close to your level.

Lovely macro images Heinrich. I'm a bit partial to nice bug photos and I enjoyed these.

Thank you for the kind words and it is rather easy, a decent macro lens and some sort of flash diffuser will do it plus a LOT of trial and error.

Just starting for us in the southern hemisphere so I hope to be doing a few more of my own. Need to finish making my diffuser though.

Good luck with your BUG season, as for the diffuser you could ask member RENSE to repost the instructions.
