Now, this little blighter and it's mate have been driving me nuts for the last 4-6 weeks. The pair of them keep alighting in this big bottle brush that has just erupted into glorious flower. I have never taken more photos of a particular bird that have totally failed in either exposure or poor focus. Something about its colouring that keeps fooling my otherwise reliable 55-300mm PLM and KP?? I have caught Rainbow Lorikeets galore in this tree, in similar lighting, with much, much higher keeper rates. Admittedly, this bird is much smaller, and flits about enough to make you want to shoot it (and not with a camera)! just to make it keep still!!

It has a very distinctive and pleasant trilling call, which keeps teasing me to come out of the house and have another go!

Anyway, here is one of the very few just-about-OK shots.

This one came out very well. I can see that it would be challenging to get a shot that isolates the bird against the colorful background. The lorikeets have such bold colors they stand out against anything.

Wonderful shot my friend. I believe you sell yourself short in not giving yourself enough credit for your patience and hard work. Again, very nicely done and many thnx for sharing sir.
