Back in the '50s, Annie Ross - then a member of the BeBop vocal trio, Lambert, Hendrix and Ross - belted out the tune, "Twisted". It was not until I was in high school in the '60s did I discover LHR, and I was enthralled with vocalise - an approach to jazz in which singers apply their voices to tunes with horn-like improvisations. In more recent times (i.e. over the last 3 decades), a number of groups - notably Manhattan Transfer - have followed the same path, and I recall that a pop singer (Joni Mitchell ??) did a pop version of "Twisted."
At any rate, I thought of "Twisted" this afternoon when I photographed this sculpture of a helix with my recently acquired D FA 15-30 - not the first time I've photographed this thing.
