Very nice photo, like how the branch frames the owl.

I didn't have time to worry about framing, the Owl was along a country road and a car was coming so I knew I had to be quick! Someday i'll have a better telephoto lens, the 50-135 is way to short for this. Makes my day if i just get a few likes!!

Nice shot bschriver11. We all like getting likes, so why not you? I have given you one too, now.

When you can, invest in the 55-300plm lens - it will give you that extra reach, and is ixceptionally sharp

I was thinking more like the DA* 300mm or a used Sigma 100-300 F/4 or even a used FA* 300 F/4.5.

Primes would be good - but the other thing about the 55-300 PLM is its auto-focus speed - it is almost instantanceous!

I have the HD DA 55-300 and sometimes I love it and sometimes I don't. At 300mm it needs stopped down to get the best result, sometimes you just have a need for speed.

Ah, yes - I mostly work in TAV mode, and I have often found the ISO being pushed very high to accommodate my pre-set shutter speed and the PLM's max aperture. And pushing down the shutter speed often ends up with a blur of wings as a bird takes off. The PLM is at its best on very sunny days!

I love hoot owls of all kinds great shot please keep them coming. Once had a calendar with a photo of a young lady on the front and titled 'HOOTERS LATEST CALENDAR' (expecting a bunch of photos of skimpily clad young ladies in HOOTERS outfits) when I opened it each month had a picture of Hoot Owl and not girls. Wish I had saved it.
