Wow! This is great and has such a lovely atmosphere. I love the blacks. Reminds me why I'm not a fan of HDR. It kills the mistery.

That is a beautiful shot. I really miss the Smokies. Used to go at least once a year as a kid. Loved hiking down there and some of the waterfalls were great.
We are lucky enough to live a few hours away. We love coming here. The waterfalls were really full this time because of all the rain.

Lighting is superb. Seems you were there at just the right moment.
Thank you. We had just packed everything up and were heading back to the truck when the sun peeked out and gave us this lovely little scene.

Thank you for the lovely comment. I don't mind HDR; it has its place and I sometimes plan for it with extra shots then find, when processing, I don't need it. I was lucky in that all the info I needed was there in one shot.

You're right. It has it's place. My complaint is about images that end up loosing all its contrast and looking completely flat and baked; overprocessed. Landscapes that have absolutely no shadows whatsoever. It's also the reason I like yours, this particular slide like rendering. Cheers!

I'm now looking at this on a different monitor. Still just as lovely, but the greens are slightly different shades as is the overall lighting. Just so much subtle interplay going on in this image. Great stuff.

I know exactly what you mean; that sounds like all my early HDRs. I still do them on occasion but try to use a lighter hand.
