He certainly was bold. Great feather detail and you have picked up the deep blue/purple on the chest. In some races it is very pronounced.

It seems variable even amongst the males at the one swamp. I suspect that the ones who don't show that other shade of colour didn't go through eclipse plumage.

The dim light would have added to the saturation. We're so lucky to have many colourful birds in Australia!
