Eeeeeuuwww.... (I asked my daughter how to title the thread)

I could use some feedback on focusing in the dark. This was late evening, and I was using a cyclops headlamp to light up what it would, but focusing was a real challenge here. AF was even less accurate. The flash didn't seem to bother the bug, though...

Well done Mark. I don't know which is uglier the Cicada or the Vulture!!!!

Had you shot from the same spot (maybe you did) this would have been a good candidate for superimposing the images in the series.

We've had a huge number of them emerge this fall, rows of them on lower branches of trees. I spotted the one in the pics crawling up a deck post, and grabbed a chair and a beer... The entire process took about 3 hours (and more beer)
The holes in the attached pic is where a few of them came out of the ground after 17-21 years sucking tree root sap.
