Silhouette on the stairs
Lens: Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art Camera: K-1 Photo Location: Bucharest ISO: 6400 Shutter Speed: 1/250s Aperture: F8
Posted By: Hattifnatt, 11-05-2020, 07:03 AM

One of my recent attempts at street photography. I was trying to apply the concept "find an interesting place and then wait for something interesting to happen", so first I found the frame without the silhouette and then after two visits and a LOT of waiting I finally got exactly the silhouette that I wanted.

Killer scene!

Taken with available lighting, or did you use a flash?

I agree with others this is a really interesting contrast. I also wonder if you could crop it to be a portrait image of just the stairs part (all the dark areas) and what that might look like. I suspect it would feel like a very different image and might make the silhouette more of the focus.

It was taken with available lighting, no flash used, I just bumped the ISO to 6400. I took this frame several times before this particular silhouette showed up, so I actually had time to go home, process the picture, see how it looks and try different settings. So when it finally showed up, I was prepared and everything was figured out.

I have already tried that It doesn't look bad, but somehow I like the uncropped version a bit more.

Great image, the eye is drawn to the cartoon on the red wall initially, but out of the corner of your eye you see the figure and the light at the top of the stairs so you are drawn across to that. Well done

Glad my idea wasn't totally loopy.
