It is a good documentation, with very good photos and from many different angles, a lot of patience and excellent results.

Ciao, Mario

As someone who used to have the nickname Muskrat for years as a kid, I really like those shots! I've only ever seen them in the wild a handful of times, though my boss has had to get rid of several at his pond.

Very nice set of pics. You would have had to work hard for them.

Bright, sharp, colourful. Everything I expect from your photos. And you left the surprise one for the end. While I don't know that I'd push my K5 to the same ISO, it is good to know you can push and still get sharp results (and with the 55-300 to boot). I'm still too wedded to my film days of trying to shoot as low an ISO as I could for a given situation.

Thank you kindly, I don't envy you boss, in a smaller pond they can become a real nuisance

Thanks for the kind comment, hard work it is not but one does need patience and that fortunately comes with old age.

Thank you kindly, when I switched from film to digital I wouldn't go past ISO 200 but one learns. As to ISO, these were shot at ISO1600, if it shows 16000 that is wrong ( I suffer with ADM and sometimes zeros and Oos run into each other)

Thanks for the clarification - and 1600 makes a lot more sense.

Nice series. Like the use of light and what appears to me, to choose the right time of day to get the most out of many of these photos. Note the nice detail of the magpie's black neck feathering...again selecting time of day lighting well.

I do learn a lot , looking at your photo examples, Heinrich.

A fine set of photos! I especially enjoy the muskrat shots; some dozen years ago when I was still fairly new to DSLR and experiencing a growing enthusiasm for wildlife photography, I befriended a muskrat at a local lake. Our bond grew to the point where if I sat quietly he would come within a couple yards of me and we would sit together at water's edge.
