Thanks everyone! . It is light painting. I’m using some of the tools from this site.
They have a lot of tutorials on how to do different effects, they really are a good resource for learning how this stuff works.

Light painting is what really got me into photography and this is a fun looking shot. I've had my eye on the Light Painting Brushes site for a while, but using mostly DIY tools. The great thing about it is any sort of light emitting device could become a tool.

Totally! It's just a modifier for a flashlight. That said, I like DIY a lot and the light painting brushes are good value. I bought the basic set and one or two modifiers and it's nice they all work with the connector.

I really like the Fenix flashlight I bought - having something overly bright is nice once you start adding gel modifiers, they eat a lot of light.

It's good fun! I find practice really helps. You get a bit better each time you do it.
