Show Time: The First Batch
Posted By: Mike Cash, 11-13-2008, 04:53 AM

All K20D, Tamron 28-75/2.8 and off camera flash triggered with Flash Waves. Some will undergo more post-processing later on.

Next year I'm taking some black cloth to block out some things in the stage wings to make my post-processing work a little easier.

Thanks, I did the last one just to relieve the monotony for myself. It was a RGB decompose and reconstruct b/w conversion in The GIMP with a color sample mapping taken from a split-tone image I did before and liked enough to save a sample out of it.

This is it if anyone would like to use it:

Mike,

Great series of shots. I like them all.

Did you get any portraits of the girls in their white make-up?

An acquaintance I brought in specifically to do just that sort of shot may have some, but since he spent over half the show machine-gunning shots inside the performance hall rather than hustling shots backstage where he was supposed to be, I highly doubt that any exist. I'm more than a little bit pissed about it.

Superb work Mike but I am not going to pick a favourite. When are you going to hang up the truck keys? -

And do what? Get a job?

I have always said that truck driving in the last refuge for those both too proud to take charity and too sorry to work for a living.

Of course, if someone would like to put me on salary for taking pictures, I would be happy to entertain any offers.

Great series! I like the first three most. The girl in red seems so young but still amazingly self aware and disciplined!

I think she's about nine years old. Off stage she's as rambunctious as a colt. On stage, though, butter wouldn't melt in her mouth.
