This lens objective has revolutionized my wildlife photography. I acquired it two years ago and I build a hand-held pistol grip for "lens + any Pentax camera" combination; since then it never rested and never saw a tripod. I go to a sea coast, lakes, swamps, a desert and mountains, without fearing the weather and wishing only that it would be lighter weight wise. The lens provides an excellent image quality throughout the zoom range even with fully open aperture, showing a high resolution and truthful colours . Chromatic aberration is almost non-existent in most cases; it does show some flare if used at a small angle to a strong light source; the background may not look too pretty at times ( but so do all zooms that I have ever tried). I cannot comment on an auto-focus , as I never use it.
