No Mergansers
Lens: DA70ltd Camera: K-3 Photo Location: Somesville, Maine ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/180s Aperture: F3.5

Went to the pond to photograph Hooded Mergansers but there were none. Grabbed this abstract so's not to come home empty handed.

You know what's funny, I can just about see a Merganser on a pond like that Good atmosphere anyway.

Oh yeah! There are crayfish down there as well as fish. I have yet to get a decent shot of one with a crayfish.

The "Hoodies" are gorgeous birds and huge fun to watch when they're fishing. It is also frustrating asa photographer since you have no idea where or when they will surface or whether they will have a meal or not.

Yes, Mergansers and loons often share the same hunting grounds. During breeding season however, the loons will violently defend their territory and won't allow mergansers anywhere near. I'm hoping to capture one of these clashes someday.

Very nice B&W image. It has nice movement but calming at the same time.
