They're not common, though.

You brought out the colour on the wings nicely. Very nice specimen shot.

The composition works great, the lines create a nice game for the eyes. The color of the bird is complimented by the background and the light is caught just right. I enjoyed the photo.

Thanks! I hadn't thought of it that way. I've been trying to get a good shot of a Bronzewing but they are shy.

Thank you! The only problem is the strangely busy bokeh.

That is a fine shot of the Common Bronzewing. I have always found it tricky to get the colours in the wing of the bird to come out right and you managed to do that.

They are common though in certain parts and unusual in others though. For example, I found one little neighbourhood near Mogg's picnic ground at the eastern start of Great Ocean Road where there were tons of them foraging in front lawns. But other parts they are much more shy. Just one of those birds I guess.

It certainly helps! It's just that I've never seen the weird repetition of background shapes like that.

Thanks! The light was in just the right place. I clearly haven't spent enough time in Victoria; I've never seen more than one "Common Bronzewing" at a time. It's good to know that they are common somewhere! It's a bit like "Flock Pigeons" which I've generally seen in pairs, but once I did see a group of about ten. They were once really common in Northern NSW, before the "big scrub" was cut down.

True! I wish we had these instead of Indian Rock Pigeons.

Thank you! I had gone to this spot looking for wild budgerigars which weren't around, but finally getting a good photo of a Bronzewing made the 200km drive worthwhile.

Really well done, Rob - as always! The feathers on this critter almost have a metallic sheen.
