I wouldn't think the ice could be very thick right now? I'm about 2 hours south of here but in the higher elevations of western Maryland and there is very little ice on Deep Creek lake beside the Wisp ski resort. Most of our snow melted overnight and today in the rain.

Two hours south puts you in a totally different weather pattern. I often drive 45 minutes south of here and the temps are usually several degrees warmer. Black Moshannon Lake is located at 2150' ASL on the Allegheny Mountain Front and is usually several degrees colder than where I am at 17 miles southeast and 1640'. It's the first lake to freeze over in the winter and the last to thaw. These pics only show what the one family was doing. There were a number of ice fishermen scattered over the 250 acres. Also the Lake is shallow, average depth is 4' and much of it is much shallower. It's actually classified as a mountain peat bog...the term lake is just used locally.

The State Troopers saved an ice fisherman who went though the ice on Loon Lake in Steuben County NY (avg depth 12 feet). An ice fisherman saved himself when he went through the ice on Lake Placid up in the Adirondacks, that one was caught on video.
