Two hours south puts you in a totally different weather pattern. I often drive 45 minutes south of here and the temps are usually several degrees warmer. Black Moshannon Lake is located at 2150' ASL on the Allegheny Mountain Front and is usually several degrees colder than where I am at 17 miles southeast and 1640'. It's the first lake to freeze over in the winter and the last to thaw. These pics only show what the one family was doing. There were a number of ice fishermen scattered over the 250 acres. Also the Lake is shallow, average depth is 4' and much of it is much shallower. It's actually classified as a mountain peat bog...the term lake is just used locally.
