When visiting this historical monument, you can admire the "desert garden" near the Basilica.

Beautiful little desert garden. I used to live in Las Vegas many years ago, and there was a great desert garden in Henderson at the Ethel M Chocolate Factory. I have no idea if it still exists.

This garden must be a recent addition, not something 300 years old. They try to show one specimen of each plant species, like a barrel cactus, opuntias, agaves, yuccas, etc.

There is still a Web site about this garden East of Las Vegas. It seems to be much larger and diverse than San Xavier's, although being located 300 miles to the North of Tucson.

There is something very pleasing to the eye in this tightly framed image. I would love to see a larger version of this pic.
