Just Caught a Nice Catfish!!
Lens: HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE @300mm Camera: K-3 Photo Location: Barnett Reservoir, Rankin County, MS ISO: 6400 Shutter Speed: 1/1250s Aperture: F8

This must have been an inexperienced older juvenile Great Blue Heron picking on the catfish since the dorsal fin and pectoral fins of the catfish can cause quite a bit of a problem if the Heron attempts to swallow the fish tail first also the whiskers can also stick you. I watched the heron toy with the fish for around 15 minutes and it never attempted to swallow the catfish so I moved on.

Another great shot, Larry. I like the entire composition of the image. The falling water makes a neat balance for the main subject.

Many thanks, Todd, your comments are always appreciated!! I have to admit the setting was Mr. Heron's idea, he absolutely refused to fly down to the shoreline for a photo shoot, so I just had to make do with the setting he chose!
