Water color effect
Posted By: Jimbo, 11-17-2008, 05:19 PM

I tried something different and wanted to see comments. This is the same picture.. One with a Water Color effect and the other as shot. I will post a link to both in a larger format. I have not posted this one though it is from my last weeks series. I must of had 10 good ones from this location. JIMBO

To be honest, I like the original one better because to me the water colour effect looks like an over-sharpened image and kinda rough looking lol. Maybe it will look better bigger? The original looks nice and smooth and tranquil.

It's the treeline that spoils it Jimbo, way too harsh.

Thanks for commenting. I was trying to look at other effects within Photo-shop... I thought the effect on the water with the Watercolor looked interesting... I may try to just do the water and leave the land as shot to change it up. Bored as I am not heading out until tomorrow to shot more pictures.... JIMBO

I agree Gary. I am going to try to just do the foreground and leave the tree line as shot to see if it looks any better. JIMBO

Ok, with just the foreground. I will try one more where I just do the water and leave the trees in the foreground as shot... JIMBO

I am on my third shot at this where I will just do the water... The process is interesting. I know I don't want to screw up a great shot... The orginal I have printed out and it looks great. Cheers JIMBO

I like some of the photoshop effects but with open landscapes the original looks best.

Thanks James. I do like the sky and water and agree the land is a little over board. I iwll continue to work this until I get it right. JIMBO

If you want the effect, I have to agree, do the water only not the shoreline across the way. The original is very tranquil, but had I not seen it, the water color effect on the water is pleasing as well.
