I hope I'm not boring you all with these snow crystal images but I'm having too much fun shooting them ! Winter seems to be winding down here, with above freezing temperatures forecast for the next week so this year's harvest will soon be ending.

Anyway here's a few from early this morning. The temp was -8C and quite calm. Caught some very pretty crystals. All shot with the 10X Nikon microscope objective.

Nope, they were all single shots. I have tried doing some stacking but the problem is that the crystals are sublimating too fast, even at -10C. I can watch the outer edges shrinking as I set up the shot.

Here's one where I did stack in Photoshop. This was a stack of 9 images. It seems to be two or three crystals on top of each other so I couldn't get the foreground and background both in focus with one shot. Happily most crystals are quite flat so one shot will usually do.
