Weekend's Here
Posted By: Kerrowdown, 02-27-2021, 04:04 AM

Cos they've fired off the Friday Guns... it's a bit like the One o'clock Gun @ Edinburgh Castle but different.

Great pix. Like the way you've caught the blast fire and lighting the fuse....from the guns.

Looks like the Highlander way to start the weekend is with a big bang.

Over here we kind of just ease into the weekend...or maybe that's just how old septuagenarian me. ...does it.

Thank you for that, it's actually a composite image... of the three fire parts, each barrel and the lighting taper were on different exposures.

I would, but all I have is a pellet rifle...no cannons, although I do have two Canons.

Your just a deprived person then...

Castle Kerrowdown has several up on the ramparts... to extend their range a good bit further.

I certainly am deprived...why I don't even have as much as one rampart, although I bet my Scottish ancestors...the MacLeods may have had a rampart or two, when they were in Scotland .

The original main two branches were Harris and Dunvegan Skye.

I'm not sure which MacLeod branch my people are from, but I should look into it. I do know that they came to Canada, in the late 1700's, possibly after, and possibly as a result of the Highland Clearances, and first lived in Nova Scotia (New Scotland) before eventually coming out to western Canada in the 1800's to farm.

I also have some more Scottish ancestors who were named Black, and came out to Canada about the same time the MacLeods first stepped on Canadian soil.

I have heard that the name 'Black' was commonly changed from the name MacGregor, due to some unpleasantries in Scotland around the Jacobite wars, but not sure.

Something else for me to look into.

A really outstanding image! And I am impressed how well it came out as a composite. Really nice work.

The shots were taken from more less the same position... just getting the timing right to capture the flares was the difficult bit. I think I took about ten exposures in total, to get the three required for this shot..

The real trick is keeping the end resultant image believable i.e. you wouldn't know unless I told you, that it wasn't a single take.

The rest is just down to the magic of Photoshop.
