Took this last month on a cold -23C morning, on the shores of the Ottawa river. Didn't notice the two 'bonus' helicopters until after I got home, on the computer.

Awesome colours! I really find that cold can sometimes bring out the best in photos

At -23C I can imagine your focus wasn't on the helicopters. It was probably on how long you needed to stand still to get the shot before you might freeze into place.
I'm finding my fingers can't handle the cold anymore so winter shooting has been challenging.

Well worth the effort. I'm debating whether the image might benefit from cropping to bring out the buildings just a bit more, but on the flip side I'd hate to lose all the swirls in the snow.

Yes, it was challenging to stay warm. I shot for about 45 minutes and took 150 photos as the sun rose. Luckily there was no wind. The mirror on my K-1 started to freeze in the up position, so I had to pack it up. My K-S2 kept on going.

That's what has done me in some days. I'm also still using the original battery in my K-5 and it doesn't like the cold any more either. I'm going to have to get my daughter's K-S2 fixed so I can borrow it too, should I ever want to venture out in weather like this.
