Sharpness and contrast are top-notch at apertures of f/5.6 to f/8, on the K3 as well as on the K1, but resistance to flare is a little disappointing compared to other Pentax lenses. Eh! it has 19 elements, so this is not a surprise. Only problem is the weight and giant size of this zoom. Every time I acquire a new lens, I'm sort of "intimidated" by it. I let it sit in front of me on the kitchen table, I look at it, I toy with it, I "talk" to it, I learn how to cope with it. It may take a few months but eventually I will "tame" the beast and start to feel at ease with it once I know its strong points and its weaknesses. I have over 75 lenses (Minolta MD's and Pentax's K, 645 and 67) and each time I use any of them, they always bring joy to me. I hope I don't seem too "crazy" to you ... Regards
