First Major Snow This Season ~ 77Ltd
Posted By: MightyMike, 11-20-2008, 12:02 AM

Well we are supposed to get 10-15cm (4-6 inches) I shoveled at 11:30pm when there was about 6-8cm on the ground, it was easy as it was the light fluffy stuff but it looked so nice i went into the house and grabbed my camera... had to pick a lens and it was a toss-up between the 77mm F1.8 and the 24mm F1.8, the 77 won only because its lens is more well protected from snow getting on it as i hate to have to clean lenses, the 24 would have been more useful though!

here are the shots i liked from the 15 minutes i spent out side after midnight

All hand held!!! All F1.8 regardless of appropriate DOF

Good Series - the first snowfall is always nice to capture. We had one but it is gone waiting for more now. Does not get old until like March

Very nice. I can't believe these are all handheld. Some of these look like lensbaby shots. Cool.

Thanks Dazman and Neil, the third shot just worked out... you know you see it and you capture it and it looks good.

Thanks Scott, Roentarre and Vievetrick... In my area snow is inevitable... better to embrace it and watch hockey then to worry about it

Sometimes the K20D (and K10D) seem to surprise me, i have used image stabilization with great success for years but sometimes you still get sharp shots you wouldn't think you'd have gotten, hmm... lensbaby... might be a fun toy to put on my "to buy" list LOL

I finally got around to viewing this thread and am really glad that I did. They are all "sparkling". I have taken plenty of snow pictures, but not with the affect that you have captured. Good work.
