Butterfly Season
Lens: HD DA55-300mm PLM w/HD 1.4x Teleconverter Camera: K-3II Photo Location: Boerne, TX Shutter Speed: 1/3200s Aperture: F9.5
Posted By: ToddK, 04-14-2021, 12:27 PM

has officially begun. I didn't have the best lens option mounted for these images with the 55-300 PLM and HD 1/4x teleconverter, but I didn't want to swap lenses and not get the shots. I was next to a pond photographing ducks when the butterfly landed on this flower next to me.

Stellar! One of my colleagues researches butterfly populations…perhaps I shall persuade him to take me out for a walk sometime. Suspect I will need a lot of practice before getting as fine of shots as you have here.

That detail caught on the back and wing in the first is amazingly fine, well done.

Thank you! I encourage you to go out and do it. It is a lot of fun and challenging to photograph butterflies.

Nice shots Todd. Good to hear they're showing up in your area. We're still waiting but should be any day now.

They showed up amazingly fast after the big freeze we had here in Texas. So did the unwelcome bugs. I killed a small scorpion in my house last week. We didn't have any of those in Northern California...
