Gray Fantail In My Garden
Lens: PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm F4. 5-5.6 ED DC AW Camera: Pentax KP Photo Location: My Garden ISO: 320 Shutter Speed: 1/800s Aperture: F6.3

The Photography Fairy Godmother has been smiling down on me: since finally receiving The Monster (the Pentax 150-450mm lens) in March this year there has been an increase in bird numbers and bird varieties visiting my less than one year old garden in my back yard.

This little guy is one of the newcomers. Because there was a Willy Wagtail flying around at the same time, I first thought this was another Willy. He even performed the same aerial acrobatics of catching insects in flight with sudden changes in direction in mid-flight. - but closer inspection proved it to be a Gray Fantail. Unlike the Willy, it wasn't one to land and perch for more than a second or two.

Nice shot. I would like to see more of him if he hangs around. I am not familiar with that bird.

Thanks everyone, for the encouraging Likes and comments - learning how best to handle my new 150-450 is an on-going challenge, but occasionally very rewarding!

Here is another pic of same bird taken in same session in another thread in case you haven't seen it - I am particularly pleased with this one.
