It is spring in Central Wisconsin. Deciduous trees were not leafed out on April 17, 2021. I think these are Aspen. They were not growing in clumps, but they could be Birch. Their trunks are beautiful.

The white on the trunks is very nice. I like the framing, it gives all the attention to the trees. The contrast is also good and there is a general natural look I’m a fan of.

Thank you. We visited our daughter in central Wisconsin, about 231 miles northeast of us, and these trees were endemic on the trail we walked.

When I was a kid I helped my dad dig up some birch trees to transplant from a hill in a timber area near the Mississippi River in Eastern Iowa; not many birches or aspens grow naturally here. The aspen and/or birch were endemic on our trail walk in Central Wisconsin. The change in flora over a relatively short distance from here, was remarkable, and enjoyable to view.
