Thank you. We visited our daughter in central Wisconsin, about 231 miles northeast of us, and these trees were endemic on the trail we walked.
When I was a kid I helped my dad dig up some birch trees to transplant from a hill in a timber area near the Mississippi River in Eastern Iowa; not many birches or aspens grow naturally here. The aspen and/or birch were endemic on our trail walk in Central Wisconsin. The change in flora over a relatively short distance from here, was remarkable, and enjoyable to view.
