Apple Orchard
Posted By: JMR, 11-21-2008, 07:07 PM

My trip to Niagara Region has been very fruitful for me. Pardon the bad pun. I did blend the first image image but I did not tamper with it too much because I love the earthy colours of the ground cover, mixed with the yellow and green apples.

Thank you. Practice goes a long way. It is very easy to overdo Orton using digital programs.

Your work is just surreal. More Beatles songs . . . I'm just waiting for you to post a shot of some strawberry fields.

Beautiful stuff.

Thank you. But the Beatles song I like best is "Across the Universe." Maybe all those stars in the sky will turn out to be strawberries under the right lighting ;-)

I often hear the song "Strawberrry Fields Forever" when I look at your images, but mostly the dreamy verse parts, not the refrain. Well, that is, I hear that when I'm not hearing "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds."

Again, nice work. I look forward to your posts. I need to learn how this is done so I can make my own dreamy landscapes.

Great shots JMR - as a young lad in highschool I use to pick apples for some extra cash - bring back lots of memories.

Oh and if we are talking classic Beatle Songs ... well the list is huge ... but my personal favorite is "twist and shot" nothing to do with this post !

I like them all!!! Especially first and last.

The PP is excellent (I hope I could do the same) and the Orton creates a nice feeling and mood.

Nice shots! Like Dave I too used to work in the orchards as a kid. We'd pick 'windfalls', like in the first picture; apples that have fallen naturally to the ground and are getting a bit soft. These apples make great cider! Picking a 45 bushel box would earn us $2.50. We'd do 2 or maybe even 3 bins on a Saturday morning and then go squander our money on firecrackers, candy and comic books. (I'm really dating myself as this happened in the '60's. )

Thanks for the memories.
