Best of summer 2008 : flora
Posted By: bdery, 11-22-2008, 06:18 AM

Second series of favourite summer shots. This series, obviously, about flora close-ups (I prefer not to use "macro", as I don't have 1:1 lenses). C&C welcomed!

1 All around

2 The center of things

3 Growing beyond

4 Cleansed

5 Visitor

6 Three tears

7 At the top

8 Flyby

9 New generation

10 Symmetry

A summer well spent indeed, with around 5000 shots in my K20D since June, I don't think I wasted time :P

2 seems a favourite (I'll confess I love it too) but was declined extremely fast from PPG, faster than 5 (which was declined too :P) I love displaying it on my digital frame, though, that's enough for me...

Now that winter has hit North America, your pictures will remind us of summer until it returns. Thanks for the posts. I like them all.

Wonderful series. #2 is brilliant. As you don't have a 1:1 macro, what lens/es or tubes etc did you use?

Thanks again for the good words.

My main "macro lens" is the Sigma 17-70. sometimes, just for the sake of it, I use the Vivitar Series 1 70-210 version 1. It's harder to manipulate, but catch-in focus means I can get excellent results if I move slowly enough. For some of these, I actually used the Viv in its non-macro mode, by standing far enough from the subject (as for #1).

Never tried the Sig 17-70 in macro...I think it's about time I did

I encourage you to. It's an excelent all-around lens, I'm glad to have bought it. It serves me well.
