Hawk eye D
Lens: DA* 300mm Camera: K-3ii Photo Location: Western Maryland ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F5.6

I believe this to be a Broad-winged Hawk but identification can be difficult. Probably could have stopped the aperture down for a little more depth of field but there was time for one quick shot and it was gone!

That's a pretty excellent shot! Seems to be plenty of DoF in there

Thanks. I thought the eye could have been a bit sharper.

Nice catch. Well done. The image you can get is always better than the one that gets away because you are fiddling with your camera settings.

I also confuse hawks. I also post photos at inaturalist and my birds have been identified by multiple people in minutes to hours. Mammals in a day, and insects take time.
It also is a database.
