Gray Catbird in the Shadows
Lens: DA* 300mm f4 Camera: KP
Posted By: mahanpots, 04-30-2021, 04:40 PM

He never did get in the light long enough for me to get a shot off. He was busy chasing bugs. So, I settled for keeping the photo darkish while lightening up the bird by dodging a wee bit.

Works for me. Curious, how close are you with the 300 here, and are you prone?

Wonderful wildlife capture. And capture it well, you certainly did. Thank you very much for posting.

I was probably 10 or 15 feet away, and I was below the level of ground the bird was on, squatting on the ground of our sunken garden, so the lens was at near ground level. Thanks.

Bird's eye view... from worm level. Nicely done. One of my mentors is always telling me to "get lower" - perfect example of what happens when you do. Well done!

Thanks so much ProfessorBuzz. I'll have to squat on location some more.
