Ominous scene
Lens: Pentax 31mm Camera: K3 Photo Location: Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania
Posted By: saley, 05-10-2021, 03:58 PM

Early morning, chilly, and the sea a bit lumpy at times, a group of determined photographers set out with Damo in his RIB to look for whales, seals, and spectacular seascapes but the stars of the morning were the shearwaters. Reminded everybody of the Hitchcock class The Birds

Fabulous image! I've never seen Shearwaters massing like that. You're keen going out in a small boat at this time of year in Tassie!

Fantastic shot, The bird just left of center with the wings open is tac sharp, and the underbelly showing gives it a tad bit more light drawing the eye.

Not to mention, great sun rays, and the island in the background.

Overall what a wonderful capture.

Thanks - the mass of moving birds grew to the extent that getting focus was impossible. So, dozens of shots, some of which worked ok

Love it, a great brooding scene with plenty of atmosphere. I know one or two people who would be absolutely freaked out by that many birds in one spot.

Thanks - it was a morning to remember. And I haven't even mentioned the whales
