Very nice and cute, and plastic waste being one of the topics of today. Focal lenght, 450 mm? Excellent quality.

Nice shot. Corellas are intelligent birds. If only we could train them to put plastic in the bins.

Yes, they are - until they start dismantling TV antennas.

Yes, I'm very disappointed by the amount of plastic in the lake.

Thanks! Yes, it is at full zoom. Oddly, the EXIF on Flickr says 695mm 35 equivalent and it should be 675.

Someone was training birds to collect bottle caps for a reward. Maybe we could train Corellas to collect garbage for a reward?

Thanks! Yes, it's sad that there's so much plastic around.

What concerns me most about that shot is that it looks like a circular piece of plastic so if a bird with a straight beak accidentally gets it stuck on its beak then it will slowly starve to death

We humans really don't deserve this planet after the way we've treated it.

Actually it's a bottle cap for something like Cocacola which has faded from red to pink, so no risk. The ring that was below the cap on the bottle is another story if someone threw the whole lot in the lake.

Some humans, absolutely. Hopefully a majority of us still respect the planet.

Nice capture encapsulating the curiosity and playfulness of these birds.

But yes, the way some people just dump their rubbish anywhere is very sad. We humans have a long way to go in understanding the effects of our actions - but being part of the food chain ourselves, it is going to come back and bite us in the end.

You're very right. The amount of plastics being ingested by sea creatures is increasing (and killing them) we are probably already eating food contaminated with plastics.
