My First Texas Hummingbird Photo
Lens: HD DA55-300mm PLM Camera: K-3II Photo Location: Boerne, TX ISO: 500 Shutter Speed: 1/2000s Aperture: F6.3
Posted By: ToddK, 05-30-2021, 03:25 PM

since moving here last fall. I believe this is a female Ruby Throated Hummingbird which are in this area in the summer. They have been feeding on the salvia in my front yard, and today I was waiting for them. This was taken from about 7-8 feet away and cropped just a little.

Way to go Todd! They are challenging birds. We have the ruby throateds here in the summer.. pretty much all we have for hummingbirds.. beautiful birds, but amazingly aggressive for their size. They chase each other non stop from our hummingbird feeders. Your image came out really great. I agree with PJV... more please!

Thank you EM! The beauty of hummingbirds is how the colors change as they move about and the lighting changes.

Thanks Al! I believe all of the hummingbirds are very aggressive. They are the toughest birds on the block for their size.
