Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway 3759 is a class 3751 standard gauge 4-8-4 "Northern" type steam railway locomotive built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1928. It is on display in Locomotive Park, located between Andy Devine Avenue and Beale Street in Kingman, Arizona.
3759 was delivered in 1928 as a 3751 class "Northern" 4-8-4 passenger locomotive. Originally a coal-burning locomotive with 73-inch drivers, the fleet was converted to oil in 1936 and rebuilt between 1938 and 1941 with 80-inch drivers. Its regular service was pulling passenger trains on the Santa Fe's main line through Kingman, which was a water stop. Retired in 1953, the engine had traveled over 2,585,000 miles.

It's a huge beast! Great shot - it looks like it's ready to ride into the distance.

Excellent point of view and a great choice for black & white to go with the vintage locomotive. Well done!

well chosen perspective and convertion to B/W. This is indeed a beast. Thanks for taking the time to post information on the engine itself - appreciated.

Love the B/W processing; the white strips give a great counterpoint to the heavy iron beast.

Great story, and nice work focusing on the details instead of the whole thing.

My family lived near railroad tracks but only diesel electric locomotives were to be seen . We kids found trains hypnotic as they passed by . This image is very engaging , inspiring and educational .

Now that is an exceptional image. Well done. What a hard working machine.

My grandfather from shortly after 1900..someting to the early 1950's...worked (49.5 years) as a carpenter for the Canadian Pacific Railway. He was off 4 years from 1915-1919....fighting in France in WW1, as part of the Canadian Expeditionary Force...the returned to his job at the CPR.

Although he worked on rail cars, I'm sure he saw many a locomotive like that.
