Took a nice day trip to Watson Lake to escape the heat for a morning.

A very nice set of shots. I have to wait a bit longer for my K-3iii but images like this tell me it will be worth it.

The K-3III is definitely worth it. Still learning it.

It wasn't my original destination, but with all the hiking trails in the forest closed, I didn't have to go home without having a nice walk and taking some pics.

Do you generally go out on photo hikes often? I'm relatively new to the Phx area (2 years) so always looking for recommendations... Does look like it's going to be a restrictive rest of the summer though...

During the summer, I like to head north camping. Then hike around or kayak. Watson Lake is part of a preserve, so there's normally a good amount of subjects. Unfortunately, it can get pretty hot up there too. My go to spots in the summer are Dogtown Lake, Blue Ridge on the rim, Knoll Lake and occasionally all the way out to Big Lake or Luna Lake. If they ever open the forests again, I plan on getting up to the Mormon Lake area to try to get some shots of elk. My hope is the rain in the forecast will help the fire situation, not holding my breath.
