After scores and scores of tries over the last year or two, in a number of locations, I think I finally nailed this little blighter!

Lovely! They seldom come out in the open, preferring the shade amongst the branches, and they're quick! So well done! I miss the calls of the Brown Honeyeaters.

The lens is no doubt superior, but still just a tool. The photographer is the artist and deserves praise for this picture. Sure does.

Yes, it was it's distinctive (and very pleasant) call that first caught my attention and made me aware this fellow was in the neighborhood about a year ago. Since that first time, I took dozens of pics over the intervening months, with only 2 or 3 even worthwhile. But I was very pleased with this capture. In fact I managed to get about 5 or 6 shots that were all pretty much in focus, but most had intervening twigs or leaves. I was very happy when it moved into this position where the whole bird was out in the open.

Excellent image. Not only more open but the illumination was in your favour as well. I did a little birding with the DA*300 about a week ago and think I only got one quality shot. That came after I had given up and gone back to the holiday house I was renting, opened the back door to dry recently mopped floors and spied a New Holland honey eater on a nearby bush. Lots of small birds in the low coastal scrub on the property but they were all very flighty.

Congrats again! The Brown Honeyeater may not be very colourful, but they have a lovely call.
