Great shot. Not a leafcutter, though. This is Eucerini not Megachilid. Maybe Melissodes, but I get confused with Svastra. Both favor these compound flowers like Helianthus etc.

That off-side wing (starboard side) is amazing in intricate detail. The back edge highlighted delicately and the veins in sharp contrast against the blurred petal behind it.

I have only seen the results of the leaf cutter bee, which cut leaves. Hopefully, the poster who said it is not a leafcutter bee, is correct. It is not on the right part of the plant for a leaf cutter bee.

Your right. Maybe a Melissodes Subillata.

Thanks for commenting. Leafcutting bees use the chewed up leaf for nesting material. As far as I know though they still need to eat. Nectar and pollen is a food source for many pollinators.
