Originally posted by Phyllis I’d nope right outta there if I had to climb that! It’s interesting to see bamboo is strong enough to still be used in modern construction. I did not know this.
Yeah it's pretty wild to see in person

To be fair, they're pretty sturdy ties, and they use A LOT of them. Like a sea of plastic ties after they take them down.
Originally posted by ToddK This is a very cool shot. It is obviously strong enough, but it looks really difficult for workers to move themselves, materials and equipment on.
From the looks of it they manage ok but that could be years of experience to get to that point.
Originally posted by swip I think HK is the only city that still do that for high rise construction.
afaik we are but I wasn't 100% sure
Originally posted by pichaser Bamboo scaffolding is still used in Hong Kong for heights up to 1000 feet . This method is regulated by code to insure safety and reliability even in storms . . These scaffolds are placed by skilled workers who are apprenticed and are very fast .
But I have not set foot on this particular type of support either .
A building I lived in had exterior renovations done and we had a whole side of my apartment blocked off with this. It's pretty gnarly looking down (through a window) when its being built, can't imagine doing the work.
